Organic Coffee Beans Promote Better Health

Probably not a well known fact but behind oil coffee is the second most traded product around the world. A regular coffee bean was thought to be the same as the next for quite some time how ever as more coffee lovers are becoming health conscious organic coffee beans are gaining world market share.

How did the coffee craze begin?

In approximately 800 A.D. When a goat Shepard in Ethiopia observed his goats almost dancing after ingesting the red berries from a coffee bush to Brazil having the largest world coffee crop in 1800 coffee was a drink held mainly for royalty and the wealthy. At that point no one paid any attention to the process to grow the beans, the thought of organic coffee beans wasn’t even important.

Fast forward a head to today and there are strict regulations and rules that guide the growing of any food product without chemicals including organic coffee beans. In 1990 the Organic Food Production Act was introduced and since then many companies have applied for certification to grow organic coffee beans. These companies are required to maintain certification through continued testing and observation of their growing practices.

It means a lot to be certified organic, and organic coffee is no different. A premium price can be sought for beans grown organically, and there is a certain brand loyalty from coffee drinks who purchase beans they known to be grown organically.

Growing Fields Must Be Certified Organic

It’s not only the growing and handling process of organic coffee beans that must be certified as organic but also the land that is used. Where ever the beans are planted the land must be assured to no have any non-organic material or ingredients added to it over the previous three years. This ensures that non non-organic material takes part in the growth of the coffee.

In lieu of chemical fertilizers mulching of trees, and outer coffee bean shells are used to create a thick top sol full of nutrients for the plants to grow. Of course it’s more work to grow organically, but growers don’t go unrewarded as previously mentioned coffee lovers who insist on organic coffee beans are willing to pay a premium price for their premium product.

To ensure each organic coffee bean retains maximum flavor many trees are grown in the shade to ensure nutrients are kept in the soil. Even the roasting process for organic beans is done without any artificial ingredients ensure that when you take that first sip of your favorite brew you know it’s as healthy as it can be.
