Perfect Brew from a Coffee Press Pot
There’s years of history behind the coffee press pot, dating back to the late 1800’s in Europe, this hot coffee brewing device is simplex in nature but products a hot cup of coffee any coffee lover would fight for. When it comes to a full flavored, aroma rich pot of coffee a coffee press pot is the best way.
The workings of a Coffee Press Pot
A coffee press pot working is very simply. The coffee press looks very similar to a carafe (The glass jug of your coffee maker) how ever it has a rod which is connected to a round cylinder like filer. The rod and filter pass through the center of the glass pot. So how exactly is the coffee made.
First off for the best coffee possible, try and use freshly grounded beans. The coffee should be ground reasonably coarse so that when boiling water is applied all the oils, acids, and flavor will come out of the beans.
Place the grounds in the bottom of the carafe, and boil some fresh water. Once boiled pour the water directly over the grounds inside the carafe. Some people allow their coffee to site in the coffee press pot to steep how ever you can begin to push the rod down so that the filter passes through the water immediately. The filter then separates the coffee grounds from the hot water and the water will have soaked up the beautiful aroma and taste from the beans.
Pros and Cons of a Coffee Press Pot
Of course for coffee lovers no two will ever agree on the perfect coffee brewing device. So this holds true for the coffee pot press. A die hard coffee lover will truly enjoy the taste a press will give them, not to mention a textured coffee experience. There’s no need for paper filters, and it’s even easier if you pre grind some beans. One down fall is that the coffee brewed in a coffee press should be drank almost immediately after brewing. Waiting too long causes the coffee to lose it’s aroma and texture. Some people don’t enjoy the small amount of sediment that can be left from the grounds at the bottom of your cop. Some complain that this sediment left in the bottom of the coffee press pot makes the taste go bitter.
Not for Everyone
A coffee press pot is the way coffee was made long before the days of electric grind and brew coffee machines. Of course as technology advances we get lazier, but technology can’t yet substitute the simplex coffee press. If you like your coffee quick a press probably isn’t for you. But if you’re a true coffee lover and value that first sip every morning then you’ll love the well brewed natural taste you get from a coffee press pot.
